The CMPGC Stop Smoking Be Healthy Program is a community-based health initiative dedicated to reducing tobacco and nicotine use among the youth, particularly within African American, Latino, and other underserved populations. Through education, outreach, community engagement, and culturally relevant health promotion activities, the program empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their health and adopt smoke-free lifestyles.
The program utilizes a comprehensive approach that combines social media campaigns, community events, educational workshops, advisory group participation, and public awareness initiatives to increase knowledge about the dangers of tobacco use and the benefits of smoking cessation. Monthly prevention campaigns such as Give Your Child a Smoke-Free Life, Thanks Mom, and Take Care Dad provide targeted messaging that encourages healthy behaviors among youth and their families.
In addition to promoting tobacco awareness, the program equips participants with practical tools to support cessation efforts, including coping strategies for nicotine cravings, breathing and grounding exercises, and refusal skills training to help youth resist peer pressure. Community assessments and outreach activities further ensure that program services reflect the needs and concerns of the populations served.
By fostering partnerships with community organizations, health disparities programs, advisory groups, and public health stakeholders, the CMPGC Stop Smoking Be Healthy Program seeks to increase awareness, engagement, and education while creating healthier, tobacco-free communities for current and future generations.
